Columbia Games – Battle of Quebec

History of the Battle of Quebec

The Battle of Quebec was a pivotal battle in the Seven Years’ War. The battle was fought on September 13, 1759, between British and French forces on the Plains of Abraham, a plateau outside the walls of Quebec City.

The battle, lasting only an hour, began when the British forces scaled the cliffs overlooking the Plains of Abraham and launched a surprise attack on the French lines on September 13th, 1759. The British victory at Quebec was a major turning point in the Seven Years’ War.

Québec 1759 Kickstarter planned for early 2024

Québec 1759 was also decisive for Columbia Games, as our first wargame printed in 1972.  Replay the French-British struggle for control of Québec City in 1759 and then join us on a historical tour that begins 265 years to the day that General Wolf stormed Québec City!

Currently out of print, Columbia Games will be Kickstarting a 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Québec 1759 in the beginning of the new year, that will feature a mounted map, large blocks, new movement location cards (replacing the need to write orders) and more!

Where will you be next year on September 13th? Hopefully with us! Mark Your Calendars!

As part of the Kickstarter, we will have two very exciting pledge levels:

A tour of Quebec City has been carefully curated with the military history fan in mind. We will arrive in Québec on September 13th, 265 years to the day after the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759.

A pre-tour cruise option for arrival into Québec following the same route as the British. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty and history of Canada and New England on a cruise aboard the Norwegian Gem.

R.I.P. Dan Mings

It is with shock and sadness that we announce the death of our friend, Dan Mings.

Dan is noted as the co-designer of Texas Glory and has contributed to many other block games including the upcoming release, Alliance.  He also pioneered Mountain Man, a family style game about the Rocky Mountain fur trade that is currently in development.

Our condolences to Dan’s family. Gamers who knew Dan or loved his game(s) are encouraged to share memories on Facebook.
