2nd email newsletter this month, and its Focus is on the 2026 HAVOC convention …
Havoc is this upcoming weekend and scheduled for Fri March 27th, Sat March 28th, and Sun March 29th … and the convention is located at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel, 181 Boston Post Road in Marlborough MA.
Entry Fee for the the full weekend is $50, and for Sunday only … $20 at the door … which means if a person only has the time to participate on Sunday for the Lion Rampant Tourney that starts at 10am, then you can!
Also … tourney prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be a pick from 6 different boxes of medieval era miniatures, including … Wargames Atlantic’s Foot Sergeants, or any of Fire Forge’s Western Army Mounted Sergeants, Military Orders Turcoples, Western Army Archers, Russian Infantry, or Gripping Beast’s Arab Light Cav/Horse Archers.
The tourney uses Swiss System for the pairings across 3 rounds at 10am, 12:30, 3pm, each being 2 hrs and a half hour in between rounds, 6 possible tables, scenery provided, Scenario 1 with 24 point army lists from back of 2nd edition rules. Bring your own army or 6 loaner armies are “first come, first serve” or email gamespoet@aol.com. Beginners ok, under 12 with adult.
Remember … STARTS SUNDAY 10AM!
So far, I’ve heard from a total of 3 persons planning to attend for just Sunday’s friendly tourney, and as long as there is an odd number, then I will join in as well. 4 of us is enough for all to play someone different each round, although we’d love to have more players, and hope others like yourself can join us for the fun.
Besides the tourney, other Lion Rampant games or those using rules by the same author are …
Battle of White Plains, Oct 28, 1776 … Saturday, 2pm, 4 hours, Rebels & Patriots, 2 of 8 slots available.
Battle of Bouvines, 1214 AD … Saturday, 7:30pm, 4 hours, 2nd Edition (modified), 5 of 6 slots available.
Here is a screen shot of the games I am running, come on down and help support what is now the longest running Historical miniatures convention in New England.
Three new sets of italian Afrika infantry and command sets. Very cool indeed. The command set not only has officers but medics with a stretcher bearer as well as a radio crew and a medical team.
The German sets in rifle and smg armed infatry. The command set as the Italians includes medics and stretcher as awell as radio teams.

New Prussian Heavy Cavalry. Though swords are shown you can request pistols and muskets. They don’t seem to have command yet though there is one figure with a banner pole and you can request that if you like. No extra charge.
The Grenadiers have a sort of open back helmut while the infantry are in a Bicorne style hat.
Entry Fee for the upcoming HAVOC convention is $50 for the full weekend (March 27 to March 29).
However, if you are only going to Sunday’s Lion Rampant Tourney at 10am, the entry fee is $20 at the door, so let us know if this is all that your doing, and we look forward to having your participation, cheers!
Also, choices for 1st thru 3rd tourney prizes can be chosen from the following items …
Wargames Atlantic’s Foot Sergeants
Fire Forge’s Western Army Mounted Sergeants
Fire Forge’s Military Orders Turcoples
Fire Forge’s Western Army Archers
Fire Forge’s Russian Infantry
Gripping Beast Arab Light Cav/Horse Archers.

P.S. If anyone is not interested in being on our list, then let us know.
As the board of directors has messaged several times over the last 10 months, we have decided to open up a number of roles to the general membership in order to try and attract and leverage the best talent within the organization to perform key roles. To that end, and to lead by example, I have recently resigned as the outreach Director for HMGS. I will remain on the board and will serve as the liaison to the outreach committee at their request.
In the interim, please join me in congratulating Cliff Brunken, who has recently been the coordinator for the greater Philadelphia area and has agreed to step into the role until all of the positions become open for applications later in the spring. I know that many of you know Cliff for the extensive work he has done in promoting both the hobby and our organization in the greater Philadelphia area. He will continue to bring a love for our hobby and passion for Outreach to the expanded role. Please join me in congratulating him and thanking him for his dedication.
The snow fell and I measured 8 inches on the railings and about a foot to 15 inches in the drifts…which seem to be most places in the driveway. Ugh.
If you need a break, from shoveling or enjoying full sunshine, hope you find this edition of the AAR informative, insightful, and maybe even amusing.
Enjoy.

The signups are on a first come-first served basis. But if we do end up with more members wanting to attend than the 35 slots now available we definitely have the space to add a couple of more games to the days docket.
